Summer Day Camp

Safe, fun activities in a nurturing environment during the summer for youth ages 5-14. Daily activities include academic enrichment to prevent summer learning loss, swimming, arts and crafts, weekly field trips and special service-learning projects. Youth are provided nutritious meals Monday to Friday and opportunities for new experiences and personal discoveries. Sliding scale fee available and CCDF accepted.

This summer, for 7 weeks, 70 campers and leaders went “Around the World” during Summer Day Camp! Campers went on field trips to local attractions, visited 3 colleges, one high school and registered for 21st Century Scholars program.

We were honored to see that 72% of our summer camp counselors were also previous campers and were able to earn a paycheck while providing an example of leadership and one of the positive ways summer camp can make an impact on the youth in our community.

Thank you to the many generous donors who helped make this year possible.

And thank you to those who honored the memory of former board member, Susan Lewis, by creating the Susan Lewis Fun Fund.  Those gifts helped purchased summer swim passes for campers this summer – something that Susan would be so happy to see.

Every year kids anxiously count down the days to Summer Day Camp at Mary Rigg. They know Summer Day Camp is their special place. It gives them structure, fun, and experiences that will guide them into the next school year and beyond.

Summer Day Camp offers extended care hours with drop off starting at 8:00 a.m., and pick up required by 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are provided.

Generous support from donors and sliding scale fees keep costs manageable for families.
