How You Can Help

Supporting the pantry can be as simple as donating your gently used grocery bags—or as involved as organizing an organization-wide donation drive and volunteer day. There are many opportunities that can be scaled up or down to fit your group’s time, size, and goals.

Partner- and community-led drives help keep our shelves stocked with high-need items. It’s a simple, meaningful way for workplaces, schools, congregations, and neighborhood groups to come together and make a real impact.

Ways to get started:

Grocery Bag Collection

Grocery Bag Collection

One simple way to support the food pantry is by donating new or gently used grocery bags.

  • Collect clean, gently used re-usable or plastic grocery bags. Bags must be from a smoke-free home.
    • We can provide collection bins for your grocery bag drive!
  • Drop the bags off at one of our convenient locations, anytime.
  • Spread the word to family, friends, and coworkers.

Use this editable flyer to let people know the details: what is most-needed, when the drive is happening, how to drop off items, and who to contact if they have questions.

We suggest gathering all donations in one location, then arranging a singular drop-off time with our food and volunteer coordinator. We also suggest naming a contact person within your organization to help answer questions specific to your drive.

Hi,

We’re kicking off a Food Drive supporting the Mary Rigg Food Pantry, part of the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, which helps families build independence and strengthens the West Indianapolis community through essential services. The pantry provides healthy food such as canned goods, fresh produce, bread, and household essentials to neighbors in need. We hope you’ll join us in collecting the most needed items for the pantry. Here are the details:

When: [Insert dates]

Drop-off Location: [Insert internal location]

What to Donate: Non‑perishable foods, canned items, shelf‑stable proteins, toiletries, and cleaning supplies—items the pantry regularly distributes to support local families. See the attached flyer for most needed items.

Demand for food assistance continues to rise, and the pantry has expanded to serve even more households in a dignified, choice‑based setting. Your donations make a real difference.

If you have questions, contact [Internal Contact Name] at [email/phone].

Thanks for helping us support our community!
