GWCHS gets visit from U.S. Director of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Initiatives.

George Washington Community H.S. students, staff, community members and state legislators met with U.S. Director of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Initiatives Peter Groff (pictured fifth from left) July 16 at the near-Westside school to discuss ideas for reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act most recently called No Child Left Behind.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan asked Groff to visit GWCHS, a full-service community school highlighted in the Secretary's June newsletter. George Washington Community High School students made a presentation about their school and provided Groff and accompanying U.S. Department of Education staff members with a building tour, pointing out partnering service providers and learning supports.
